Introduction to
Foundational Curriculums
Created for PRE – Solution Based Learning by Patricia, these Foundational Curriculums follow the arc of child development, from the first moment of a child’s life, on into the exploration stages of the child’s school years and through to adulthood and higher education.
The Foundational Curriculum levels, which are divided into 5 milestone stages, incorporate multiple educational disciplines and methodologies that can be used in both the classroom and in any other learning set-ups.
All the materials needed for 1 academic year can be found in the core bundle which includes the structure and goals for the individual level along with weekly lessons, assignments, and instructions. Additional material such as Teacher Guides, lists for resources and materials, and organizational templates for administrative records are offered separately.
This structure offers a ready-made syllabus for private schools throughout each semester for the year, while providing the flexibility, support, and curriculum options that distance learning or those homeschooling may need.
ECLS (Infants/Toddlers)
There are 4 areas of development between the ages of 0-2 years that occur naturally through the infants’ observations and experimentation. In the Foundational Curriculums for Early Care Learning Support a structure for how to stimulate and optimize development in each of these areas is laid out with the scientific theories behind each method presented in a straightforward manner beneficial to any parent or caregiver.
Early Years
In the Early Years, ages 3-6, a child develops methods of communication through reading, writing and an understanding of the world through experimentations and calculations. The Foundational Curriculum for this stage encourages social interactions, development of observation and critical thinking, and a wide variety of hands-on creative methods for learning.
Foundational Years
Building on the natural process of child development, laid out in the previous levels, the Foundation Years within the Foundational Curriculums focus on teaching children, ages 7-10 years, knowledge within the basic academic subjects. However, unlike a traditional syllabus, the subjects are presented in an integrated manner that mimics real world experiences. This allows the child to learn at an intuitive level that combines cognitive skills with common sense, allowing a solid foundation for life skills.
Structural Years
Once a child, between the ages of 11-14, has acquired the basic knowledge and skills of finding new information and using it in a practical way, they move on to the Structured Years within the Foundational Curriculums. These levels focus on teaching the child how to organize and share information, develop social skills for building relationships with others, and how to shape their own environment in the best way possible. Further insight into global issues and cultural diversity are also incorporated in a practical way.
Highshool
Most children are capable of self-directed learning within the teenage years of 15-18, and localized certification from the Education Board for the completion of their basic education varies according to each country. The Foundational Curriculum for these levels provide both a guide and support for international expectations, without constricting the subject matter to a specific set of requirements.
